Black Caucus trip to Cuba focused on travel restrictions, but not to the exclusion of human rights

The Plain Dealer missed a prime opportunity to encourage thoughtful dialogue around travel restrictions to Cuba in its editorial Friday titled “A little too taken with the Castros.”   During a recent legislative trip to Cuba, I joined an important discussion on this issue in an effort to give Americans travel freedom. Opening up travel opens up minds; the exchange of democratic ideals is most powerful.
