Rep. Fudge Announces the 2009 Strive For Excellence Scholarship

Through Walmart Stores, Inc. and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Representative Marcia L. Fudge is excited to announce that applications for the 2009 Strive for Excellence Scholarship are now available to residents and students of the 11th Congressional District.  This year, five (5) scholarship recipients will each receive an award in the amount of $1,140.  Recipients will be selected based upon demonstrated commitment to their education and the community.

The Strive for Excellence Scholarship was established in 2006 with a generous gift from Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. to expand the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s scholarship and internship programs.  Representative Fudge is committed to strengthening the community by preparing young leaders for tomorrow.  By providing an avenue toward higher education, this award prepares students to become those leaders. 

To qualify for the award, applicants must reside or attend school in the 11th Congressional District, be in pursuit of an undergraduate degree (full-time) and submit a complete application by May 31, 2009 to the Marcia Fudge for Congress office.  For more information and application materials please click here.
